A Brief History of KKS

With the establishment of AECS Layout, Kundalahalli turned out to be one of the fast growing areas in Bangalore. As the layout was exclusively formed by employees of HAL, the initial population consisted of mainly HAL employees.

After the establishment of ITPL and the boom in IT Sector in this area, Kundalahalli became one of the most happening place of Bangalore. With this boom, the real estate sector grew in leaps and bounds, and so did the population. Steady inflow of people from all parts of India added to the vibrant culture and diversity of this place.

Mr. P.N. Yogidas, an active member of various associations, along with Mr. K.V.G. Nambiar, Mr. T.M.S. Nambisan, Mr. Sivaraman, Mr. Raghu, Mr. C.R. Madhavan, Mr. Swaminathan, Mr. Unni Madhavan, Mr. Sivashankaran and many others, all ex-employees of HAL felt the need for an association which will help to know other Malayalees better and contribute to the upliftment of the society. With the main objective of promoting and protecting the unity and co-operation of Malayalees residing in and around Kundalahalli, KKS – Kundalahalli Kerala Samajam was registered under the Karnataka Society’s Registration Act 1960 on 11th November 2011 at Bangalore under the juridiscation of Registrar of Co-Operative Societies, Central Zone, Bangalore City.

Kundalahalli Kerala Samajam was located at the time of registration at #301, Raycon Lotus, ‘A’ Block, AECS Layout, Kundalahalli, the residence of our founder secretary Mr. P.N. Yogidas. Mr. K.G.N. Nambiar was the founder president. An ad-hoc committee was formed with 7 office bearers and 17 executive committee members, who worked actively to increase the membership of KKS to 250 life members in a short span of three months.

The inagural function of KKS was held at #490, B Block, AECS Layout, Kundalahalli on 29th January 2012. All our members turned in full audience, where Mr. P.N. Yogidas announced the birth of KKS, and its aims and objectives. Mr. Raghavendra, President, AECS Layout, inaguarated the ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp. Prayer song by Kumari Ramitha and Kumari Varsha, followed by welcome address by our President Sri K.V.G. Nambiar and a report of the Samajam’s planned activities was presented by Sri P.N.Yogidas, General Secretary, KKS.

Mohiniyattam by Kumari Srilakshmi, disciple of Kalamandalam Girija, followed by “KANNADA” – A visual presentation of poetry by Sri Murugan Kattakada and directed by Jyothi Manoj was presented. Bharatha Natyam & Cinematic Dance by Bharatham Academy for Performing Arts was presented.

Since the inagural function, KKS has held many programs which included literary competition, drawing competition, cancer-aware talk, health awareness and a grand Onam Sadhya.

Our current membership stands at 650+ members are we are one of the most prominent organization for Malayalees in Bangalore.

Aims and Objectives

  • To promote and protect unity and co-operation among the Malayalees residing in and around Bangalore.
  • To promote and support social,cultural,educational activities among the Malayalee residents residing in and around Kundalahalli.
  • To constitute a Benevolent fund to help the deserving people. To institute student-ship, scholarship, stipends etc, and to encourage deserving students by providing monetary assistance for pursuing their education.
  • To provide relief at times of natural calamities like earthquake,flood,comtagious diseases etc.
  • To organize and conduct seminars, discussions and conventions related to general economic and social uplift of general public.
  • The Samajam shall not take part in any kind of political activities.
  • To conduct classes to learn Kannada/Malayalam & other languages.
  • To establish and run free reading rooms and libraries.
  • To organize, conduct, manage or participate in educational, industrial, commercial, banking, trade and cultural activities including by forming trusts, companies, firms or similar associated organization, shares or equity.
